An Electrified Horizon Cat

I fell in love with the Com-Pac Horizon Cat (1) about 12 years ago when it was introduced at the St. Petersburg Sailboat Show. Partly nostalgia, I’m sure, as it seemed identical to a 20’ Crosby catboat owned by a buddy’s father in which we cruised all around Narragansett Bay as teenagers. When the wife announced she was done with boating, I sold the current boat, dusted off the old literature and contacted the Hutchins Company. Although the Horizon Cat is offered with diesel or outboard…See More

Hello all,New recruit here, taking the plunge into the "electric sea". I hope somebody's ready to throw me an extension cord...I mean lifeline. I'm gonna need it. I'm in the electric learning curve. My main concern in trying to make the conversion from diesel to electric is cost. I am restoring a 46' Heritage West Indies sailboat that has a 15' beam, draws 4'-8" and displaces 33,000 lbs. and my research has me seeking a 40-50 hp electric motor and components. So far the pricing is as much and…See More

Mounting Flexible Solar Panels to Catamaran 2160W

Just thought I would throw this one out there and see if there are any better ideas for mounting flexible solar panels to boats. So here is what I have so far mostly all still relevant even though I mounted two panels together for maximum maneuverability and ergonomic panel positioning.  The idea is simple and should work until some 316 1" is found at least to get mobile for testing and trials.Basically the roof will have four pvc pipes running the length of the cabin top.  2 1" 16' long running…See More

I am thinking 72v…See More
