I was finally able to get a diagram from Scott at EY which has greatly clarified the issue, but we shall see if the motor runs properly when we test it on Saturday. Scott also assured me that…Continue

We still don't have the motor set up properly. The main problem is the lack of clear instructions. None of the parts are labeled and most importantly no diagrams for wiring or cables. We have…Continue

Hi Skip,
The SolidNav Explorer has worked great for three years now. I did have an issue with the early Sevcon controller not being able to shift from forward to reverse (brakes!) until the prop stopped. Before I got the Sevcon fix I added a shaft brake which eliminated that problem. I also wanted a shaft brake to stop the prop from spinning when I did not need regen. It's a sweet unit.

Hi, I have a 25' Aleutka, Yes a real live Aleutka, designed by Dr. John Letcher in the early 70's. It was in Ferenc Mate's book " Best Boats to Build or Buy" and of course Jon Letcher's classic " Self-Steering for Sailing Craft"
It was designed as an engineless minimalist cruiser, although mine has an outboard well. My hope is to find a Ray Electric outboard to power her. I have a wind-bugger to charge the batteries and am working on the solar panel configuration now.- Will
