Longest run so far

We just finished our longest motor so far there was no wind so we motored the whole distance and my original calculations were pretty darn close40.48 miles total and it took 262ah 12.5kw running at 35amp@48volts average speed 4.1ktsThat brought the bank way down to 16.5% I just wanted to see if it could do it. I still seamed to have plenty of thrust but I was getting worried and was glad to be back in the slipThe voltage read 44.2 @ rest 262ah used when I got…See More

Goin' back.

I'm sorry to say that I'm returning to the dark side:  diesel.  I have found that my sailing has changed from using the motor to get away from the docks and hoisting the sails to long periods of motoring.  I recently retired and now, rather than day-sailing and weekends, my wife and I are spending longer trips here along the Gulf Coast.  That means awaiting weather windows for open water sailing or motoring along the ICW.  The electric was fine for shorter trips when I motored less or could use…See More

Oceanvolt references

I am looking at buying 2 SD15 KW saildrives, 8 LiFePO4 batteries, 2 14KW DC Diesel Gensets and a solar charger/controller from Oceanvolt. They provided several references of people who had their systems in catamarans so I contacted all of them. Every one had a good story to tell! Sure there were a few problems, but the owners all said that Oceanvolt support was impressive. Does anyone in this group have a history with Oceanvolt?See More
