Significant voltage drop

Hi everyone,I have an electric yacht motor, driven by 8 Trojan T105 batteries, wired in series to produce 48Vdc. I have owned the system and the batteries for  7 years. I have noticed this year that I am getting really significant voltage drops while underway.I can see the motor controller display going from 48 down to 24 Vdc, all within an hour, under what I consider to be normal cruising conditions and amp draw.I guess there may be two problems.1) A resistance problem- maybe thermally induced…See More

How to Determine Power (force) Needed to Push a Boat

There has been a longstanding "rule of thumb" to determine the motor size for an electric repower: Take the existing diesel horsepower and divide by three.  Multiply that number by 750 to determine the (continuous) wattage rating for a motor. Belt size

As i stated in a post last winter I was having belt problems. the 1in L series timing belt was skipping teeth @ about 80-90 amps on my 48v system. I was having to much fun to change it over the summer. So I carried 2 spare belts all summer never needed them but better safe than sorry But have decided it was time to fix the problem so i ordered a set of cogs and a 1in h series belt. New Battery technology

In electric yacht's  new year's message Mike Gunning mentioned  higher performing AGM based batteries that take advantage of TPPL and carbon additive batteries.  Does anyone know where I  can get more  information  on  these new  battery  technologies?Skip See More

GreetingsI have a 48V 300ah system for my ElectricYacht install. I am looking to provide both solar and wind generation to the system, solar first, then wind.
