Original Designs

Designers wanted!

If you are a graphic artist or if you just have an idea for a T-shirt, we want to hear from you! As part of our efforts to spread the word about electric boats and our green boating values, we thought it would be fun to open a store with Spreadshirt.com to design and sell apparel (T-shirts, sweatshirts, hats, etc.). Although anyone can open a Spreadshirt.com store for free, we paid a little bit extra for a premium account so we can upload more designs and present them better. You could open your own Spreadshirt.com store yourself, but why would you? You already have one, and this is it!

If you have a design that you want to see on a T-shirt, hat, sweatshirt, or even underwear, please just leave a comment on this page and/or upload a file in any format. If the file is in .png format we can probably put it directly on a T-shirt, but if it is in .bmp, .jpg, .gif etc. format we'll edit it with Adobe Illustrator to make it look good. Your design might go through a simple and fair review process to make sure it falls within our theme of "International and green tech inspired boating designs" and also that it is legal to print. There are rules about printing copyright or trademarked material (company logos without their permission). If it is your company and/or your trademark and we have your permission to print it, we'd be happy to also present your company logo in our design collection. Also, if you have a specific or unique design, like for your own boat or a promotion for a yacht race in some unknown corner of the world, please submit those designs too, since it costs nothing to submit and you never know who your design might appeal to.

The standard markup fee for designs, which the Electric Seas organization collects in order to raise funds, is $5.00. If is important to you, we will split that with you ($2.50) for your designs that sell. Or if you are happy just seeing people wearing your designs, we appreciate the donation.

Which hull shape is better for regen?

Which hull do you think would make the best electric conversion, in terms or regen, battery location, or any other observations you might have? Looks like the Cherokee bilges might be a bit shallow for batteries? Thanks!See More

Starter advice for Max's New Electro Project

I'm on the hunt for a cheap old cruising sailboat to electrify for Lake Michigan and future long range cruising. I'm currently considering a Cal 30-1, Chris Craft Cherokee 32, and various Cheoy Lee Offshore models from 30 to 40 ft.Before I buy a boat, I figured it would be wise to get some input on what to look for or avoid in a good conversion candidate. Any general input appreciated. Most boats I'm looking at have an old atomic 4.I'm considering a 10kw electric yacht system, although I keep…See More

SolidNav UpDate and GEN4 Converstion

I bought David Carrolls Catalina 30 with the SolidNav Explorer in it that didn't work. It was giving the 3 blinks code on the LED flash and sometimes 4 blinks on the LED flash.I called Thunder Struck Motors who are extremely smart and helpful people and talked to them about what would be  the best route to take to fix the system. After exploring all options. I decided to buy a brand new GEN4 Controller, the wiring harness, and the new style better throttle control and have it all programmed…See More

Helm Instrumentation Project

Recently I built a helm instrumentation panel so I could keep and eye on battery voltages and current draw on the propulsion bank without leaving the helm while underway. It worked out pretty good though I still have to mount it permanently. The links to the process I went through are here:http://biankablog.blogspot.com/2013/02/instrumentation-project-part-one-plan-a.html…See More
