Ok, before I'm kicked out of the forum, look at this Utube.

I don't have the same engine but my diesel is an old lifeboat type engine that has a similar characteristic. Another hobby I enjoy is playing music and this could be very handy.
Any ideas on how I could get this out of an electric motor?

Aren't you guys missing the main point!
This is not a diesel but a steam engine! Pockety, pockety, pockety....better for the percussion.

What a great video! The steam engine is a great accompaniment. Loved the rhythm!! Whoa, if you're diesel sounds like this old baby then you do need to replace it with electric, LOL! Hmmm, I'm thinking some smooth blues to go with the electric. Welcome aboard.

I can kind of see some kind of card holder ring someplace so I could put cards at different positions for a different beat or change the rythem with the motor speed like a card against bicycle spokes. Maybe it would work to have a cooling fan card setup. Who could not want to blow a harmonica with this behind you?
